Read Before Jumping Into Advertising

If you’re a business owner for a long time now, your operating routine would probably include having a marketing campaign that would amply introduce your products and services to your target audience.

Okay. So before you do that, you’d probably be scouring for new mediums just so you can convey your message to your clients and prospects. And because you are always working on a limited budget, you’re probably always thinking of ways to maximize your exposure but limit your spending as well.

Every business owner and marketer knows that in order for you to work on your budget, you need to be creative and resourceful to be able to get your word out to your target market. It’s all about your profit margin actually. You would want to reach out to as many clients as you can, with less the expense of doing your marketing campaign, and still have a remarkable increase in your sales.

Simple Way To Become A Master Of Your Own Affiliates

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Promoting and selling a product takes a lot of time, money and effort and often it is horrendous job when you do it on your own. So, some people work through affiliates, i.e. they offer their products to others for selling in return for a percentage as commission. The more affiliates you have the more would your product sell and the more profits you would cull.

Sometimes Affiliates Get Out Of Control

In most cases the affiliates bring good business and everything is fine. However, there are times when the affiliates behave unethically which directly affects your product, your reputation and your profits. At this time you need to take some action to stop that particular affiliate from using your product and your name. Unfortunately, in most cases all merchants are restricted – simply most affiliate networks do not give you that freedom.

So what do you do? You have to go the round about the way and approach the network’s support or the network to take some action against the spammer which would mean delayed action, which again would translate into more damage to you.

There is yet another scenario – you have a great affiliate member and you want to reward him/ her with some incentive like raised commission, or special reward program. Without a suitable affiliate management tool you would not be able to punish or reward your affiliate members. You would have to follow the "process" without having any say in it – which would be highly frustrating, to say the least.

Marketing Via Blogs

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Have you considered that your various products can all have associated blogs? Have you considered that various departments within your organization can all have blogs?

And once you have a blog or a few blogs, do you know who’s visiting them? Who’s commenting on them? Are they even open for comments or are they just a “one-way” communication? Will you allow anonymous comments? Will you respond to harsh and negative, perhaps even obscene comments? These and other questions must be considered when branching out into the world of social media.

Marketing By Any Other Name

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

What does the word “marketing” mean to you? When you say “we need to do some marketing” or “we need a marketing plan,” what is the end result you are picturing?

Of all the functions that contribute to business growth, marketing has got to be the least standardized. Not only do the activities associated with marketing vary from company to company, but the purpose and goals of marketing differ widely. In many cases, marketing is a synonym for sales, which in my opinion is one of the biggest strategic mistakes a company can make.

Marketing is not sales. But marketing better be contributing to revenue generation or you’re wasting time and money. And probably lots of both.

Here is a simple way to think of marketing: your marketing activities need to make your sales process easier. How they do that will vary depending on your company and market. Product marketing is very different from service marketing. Business to business marketing is very different from business to consumer marketing. Marketing high cost goods and services requires a different approach from marketing commodities.
